What families have shared with us

ZA

Zuraida Abdullah

Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

"We started with the Home Comfort Setup when my mother-in-law moved in with us after her husband passed. The written room plan was very practical — things we wouldn't have thought of on our own. The follow-up visit a few weeks later was genuinely useful too, not just a formality."

"My father lives alone and I work long hours. Getting the companionship visits sorted through Anugerah was one of the better decisions I've made this year. He has someone to talk to during the week, and I get a short note after each visit. It's been running for about four months and the consistency has been good."

"We use the meal planning service for my grandmother who lives on her own. The first few weeks needed a few adjustments to get the menu right — she's particular about certain ingredients — but once we ironed that out it became very smooth. Now the groceries arrive without anyone having to chase it."

"The matching process for companions is clearly taken seriously. They asked questions I didn't expect — about my mother's personality, what she'd find off-putting, what topics she enjoys talking about. The companion they chose has been visiting for three months and my mother actually looks forward to it."

"Honest about what they do and don't cover, which I appreciated. We were in a situation where we needed help figuring out how to set up my mother's room so she could move around more easily. The written assessment gave us something concrete to work from."

"We have both the meal coordination and companionship visits running for my father. Having one person to contact about both has made things much simpler. The weekly grocery summary is short and clear — I can read it in two minutes and know what's been arranged."

In More Depth

A closer look at how support took shape for three families

Case Study · Companionship & Meal Coordination

A widowed father in Kuala Lumpur's north — managing well but spending most days alone

The Situation

An adult daughter working in Petaling Jaya contacted Anugerah about her 76-year-old father. He was capable and independent, but since her mother's passing he had become quieter, eating less varied meals and spending most weekdays without company.

What Was Arranged

Anugerah introduced weekly meal coordination to bring structure to grocery shopping, and arranged three companionship visits per week with a companion who shared an interest in local history and enjoyed card games.

After Three Months

The daughter reported her father was noticeably more engaged during her weekend visits. She estimated she spent around two fewer hours each week managing grocery logistics, and felt less anxious about long gaps between visits.

"The companion they chose for my father is a genuinely good fit. He told me last month that Tuesday afternoons are his favourite part of the week now." — Rosmah Y., Petaling Jaya

An older mother moving into a new apartment — a family trying to prepare the space well

The Situation

A family in Cheras was preparing a second unit in their block for their 80-year-old mother. The apartment was unfamiliar to her and the family wasn't sure how to arrange it for both safety and comfort — particularly in the bedroom, bathroom approach and kitchen area.

What Was Arranged

An on-site assessment produced a room-by-room written plan with specific recommendations on furniture placement, lighting in key areas and a short list of items the family could source locally or online before their mother moved in.

The Outcome

The family implemented most recommendations before the move. The follow-up review two weeks later addressed a couple of remaining points. Their mother settled into the apartment more quickly than the family had expected.

"Having a written list of things to get and arrange before she moved in made the whole process much less stressful for the family." — Heng family, Cheras
